Designer specialising in architecture and urban design | New York City, USA & Perth, Western Australia

about

With a strong passion for creating a better built environment in which we live, I found myself studying architecture at the University of Western Australia straight out of high school. I instantly reacted to it and during my 6 years of study, I strived to better my understanding and skills in design. Many of my designs have found inspiration from Japanese and Scandinavian architecture and I have tried to apply some of these principles to the Australian context.

In 2018, I packed up my life in Perth and moved to New York City. I found work at a café while I searched for an opportunity in architectre. I started working at Robert A.M. Stern Architects (RAMSA) in July of that year on a variety of projects including single and multi-family luxury residential projects located domestically in New York, Florida, and Virginia, and also abroad in China, Hong Kong, and Macau. In 2019, I was assigned a Junior Project Manager and Job Captain role on a 13,500 SF single family home in Hong Kong and a 1,300,000 SF multi family project in Miami. I gained experience across all phases of the design process, most notably during early stages (Concept through to Design Development).

At the beginning of 2016 until March 2018 I worked at Creative Design + Planning, a Urban Design and Planning firm based in East Perth who specialize in greenfield developments and urban redevelopment projects. Recently there has been a growing focus towards implementing innovative design strategies to improve the homogenous and unsustainable built form that is the norm for West Australian fringe suburbs. I work mainly in 3D Modelling and visualization for the company as well as provide architectural ideas towards these innovative concepts that we are progressing towards.

Outside of design, I gained enormous experience working on construction sites and warehouses as a laborer for a number of years and this coupled with my passion for design led me to where I am today.

In 2017 I wrote a series of articles for the Perth-based design blog "Local Code" (www.localcode.org) discussing issues and ideas surrounding housing affordability. The articles can be found here:
